(Ban Yuan Teapot)
I have tried this teapot with Wulong, Hongcha and Puer tea (semi-aged Sheng Pu). Its clay seasons fast, it already got darker and a bit shiny.
It has refined craftsmanship and high-quality clay.
As with many pots (but not all!), after some seasoning, the change in the appearance of the clay is more evident after pouring boiling water inside the pot. See the last picture (same light and same position, the one to the right is the one with water.)
The lid fit is slightly loose. It has some slight dripping when pouring.
There is no need to pre-season this pot before using it.
That said, the pot is clean.
We didn’t use it much. However, if you are concerned, we can clean it upon request.
This clay usually goes well with darker teas, high roasted Oolongs, semi-aged Sheng Puer or old Puer, Shu Puer, red teas, etc. But it might do well with other teas. You could compare it against porcelain to decide what teas brew well.
Note: This pot is a replica of a F1 pot.
