(2005 Mengku Yinhao Raw Puer Tea)
Each tong has seven cakes and is wrapped in bamboo.
This tea shares a similar flavor profile with other teas from the factory, such as Chun Jian.
This tea spent most of its life in Guangdong and later in Kunming, so it has aged considerably fast. However, the storage is clean, with no off notes. It nearly has no astringency nor bitterness. You must push it hard to get some bitterness in the first few infusions.
The tea has a thick mouthfeel with camphor notes and a cooling feeling in the mouth. It also has a fast and sweet Huigan that causes one to produce plenty of salivation.
This tea offers good value if you’re looking for an aged Shengpu.
The tea is certified organic by the Ministry of Agriculture of China.
Please note: The wrapping paper and bamboo wrapping were bug-bitten. The first cake’s wrapping paper inside the tong is the most damaged. We send the cakes randomly so you might get the first cake of the tong. Since this one has very damaged paper, we will add plain white wrapping paper on top of the original.
There is also a lot of brown dust on the cakes from the Bamboo wrapper, you can easily brush the dust off the tea cake.
About old teas: usually, the wrappers have holes since they are bug-bitten. You may also find tea oil stains.
Commonly, the paper disintegrates over time. And dust appears between the cake and the wrapper. The dust could also be from the bamboo wrapper. You can remove this dust by blowing it out. The easiest way is to brush it off.
Also, note that there might be hair, tea pods and tiny stones/rocks.
Please consider this before buying old compressed Puer teas!
