The Tea
The tea cake material has different leaf grades, including buds and small to middle-size leaves.
Depending on the amount of tea and how you pry the tea leaves, you can brew this tea at least ten times.
This tea is originally smokey, but due to its storage conditions in Banna, it has lost that smoke note. It is slightly noticeable in the aroma after rinsing the leaves but not in the cup when drinking it.
It has some low astringency and bitterness due to the humid storage. To get some bitter taste, you have to push this tea hard. Or when pry the tea leaves if you get much dust/broken leaves. The tea will be bitter in the first brews.
It has a thick mouthfeel with a decent sweet huigan that causes one to produce plenty of salivation.
The tea flavour remains in the mouth and throat for a decent time.
The tea has a camphor flavour/aroma profile with a super mild storage note that will be gone after airing the tea out.
This Puer is for those looking for an affordable aged tea with a significant transformation and good mouthfeel.
About old teas: usually, the wrappers have holes since they are bug-bitten. You may also find tea oil stains.
Commonly, the paper disintegrates over time. And dust appears between the cake and the wrapper. The dust could also be from the bamboo wrapper. You can remove this dust by blowing it out. The easiest way is to brush it off.
Also, note that there might be hair, tea pods and tiny stones/rocks.
Please consider this before buying old compressed Puer teas!
