(Juduozai Dancong Oolong)
Ju Duo Zai, literally “Saw Cut/Chop”, also called almond Aroma “Xing Ren Xiang”.
Its name, “Saw Cut/Chop”, comes from the serrated edge shape of the leaves (see the last picture) and is a small-leaf tea Cultivar.
The aroma and taste are reminiscent of almond powder tea. However, almond powder tea has more of a Marzipan, Amaretti cookies feeling, which is not as strong in this Dancong tea. Additionally, this Xing Ren Xiang Dancong also has floral and fruity notes.
This tea comes from the same producer as our Mi Lan Xiang and Ya Shi Xiang.
The three belong to the same area, but the exact location of this tea has a slightly lower altitude.
The tea garden near this village belongs to the Phoenix Mountain area and it is also close to the Wudong Mountain area.
The area surrounding the tea garden has a diverse flora and some wild animals, creating a favourable environment for tea plants.
This tea was hand-picked and traditionally charcoal-roasted. Â
It has a medium roasting and oxidation.
Regarding its aroma/flavour profile, it feels more floral in the aroma, but the taste has some fruitiness to it. The tea also has that note of Almond tea mentioned above. The astringency is low to medium. Also, the bitterness in this tea is moderate but higher than our Mi Lan Xiang and Ya Shi Xiang, so we advise you to keep the brewing time very short.
The tea is sweet and causes one to produce a decent amount of salivation. It feels thick in the mouth but not as creamy as our Ya Shi Xiang. Finally, the aftertaste is long and intense in the mouth and throat.
If you have some experience with Dancong teas, the exceptional quality of this one should be evident.
