Material:  Zi Ni (aged clay from factory 1 and fired in factory 1 facilities). High-fired.

This is one of the early teapots made by Jing Dian Tao Fang (to make it shorter, later on, I will call it JDTF).

This company was founded in Taiwan in 1989 by Li Wei Wen. They also have their Factory Head Office in Jiangsu Yixing.

In the late 1990s, Yixing Factory 1 was restructured from state-owned to private. JDTF was formerly known as a joint branch of Yixing Factory 1 and inherited some of the original workers, clay and kilns of Factory One.

I have to admit that this is one of my favourite brands simply because they know how to fire the teapots properly and their clay is pure, meaning the teapot will be absorbent, gain a beautiful patina and have a good impact on the tea flavour.

This teapot is semi-handmade, has excellent craftsmanship, and the pouring is smooth and super fast 10 seconds. Perfect lid fit, nearly no dripping at all from under the lid when pouring. 

I haven’t used this teapot, is completely new but the clay looks quite similar to the Si fang teapot we also offer, which is very porous. So looks like it’ll suit better darker teas, like old teas, wet storage Puer, ripe Puer, high roasted Wulongs, etc.

However, I advise you to experiment with different teas and find what teas pair with the clay.
