(F2 Shuiping Zisha Teapot)
This is a Factory 2 teapot that uses Nei Zi Wai Hong clay, meaning the teapot uses Purple clay, coated on the outside with Red clay. In those days, Red clay was more valuable and also more expensive. Therefore, this was a way to lower costs.
I love this type of clay from Factory 1, but I haven’t much experience with this clay from Factory 2 (the first time I found such clay from Factory 2).Â
This is a great opportunity for those who want to experience this clay.Â
But for a lower price when compared to Nei Zi Wai Hong from Factory 1.
The craftsmanship is decent, the lid is a bit loose. And the pouring speed is 10 seconds with slight dripping. Some natural kiln cracks on the inside of the lid. On the surface of the clay, it doesn’t go through like the kind of crack caused by some bump.
The teapot was used and cleaned but still has some tea stains under the lid and some patina. It looks to me that this teapot will develop even more patina with use.
I have tried this teapot with medium roasted Tie Guan Yin with good results. This clay usually pairs well with Shu Pu, Heicha and other high-roasted Oolongs.
However, I advise you to experiment with different teas and find what teas pair with the clay.
When buying Factory 2 teapots, please be aware that:Â Generally speaking, these Teapots have no perfect craftsmanship compared to many modern teapots.Â
Regarding lid craftsmanship, rarely can you find a perfect lid fit. Usually, the lid is a bit loose with slight dripping.
