(JDTF Three Feet Zisha Teapot)
This pot is one of the early works of Jing Dian Tao Fang (to make it shorter, later on, I will call it JDTF).
In 1989, in Taiwan, Li Wei Wen founded the company. They also have their Factory Head Office in Jiangsu Yixing.
In the late 1990s, Yixing Factory 1 was restructured from state-owned to private. JDTF was formerly known as a joint branch of Yixing Factory 1 and inherited some of the original workers, clay and kilns of Factory One.
I must admit that this is one of my favourite brands simply because they know how to fire the teapots properly and their clay is pure, meaning the teapot will be absorbent, gain a beautiful patina and have a good impact on the tea flavour.
This pot has some use and is already gaining a nice patina (it will continue developing a beautiful patina because they fired it to the perfect degree). I can see some progress already with little use). I have tried it with roasted Oolongs.
This teapot is semi-handmade, has a high level of craftsmanship, and pouring is not as smooth as other JDTF teapots we have, with 13 seconds of pouring time. Its clay is one of my favourites, very absorbent. Perfect lid fit, some dripping under the lid when pouring.
The shape of this one is very versatile, its wide mouth can accommodate most types of tea leaves. Recommend this clay for Puers and many types of Oolongs, etc.
However, I advise you to experiment with different teas and find what teas pair with the clay. Usually, the tea decides which is the most suitable teapot so you must experiment.
Important note: We have recently made a video of this teapot and we discovered a small flaw. A piece of sand jumped out during the firing, so we reduced its price. See picture 6.
